Duality, yin and yang, good and evil, feminine and masculine, the concept of duality can be perceived in many different ways. Duality in our relationships, duality within a person, and duality in sexuality, gender, and the expression of such, are all topics explored in this collaborative series.
1+1=1, is a series presented through the form of photography and writing, created by four Canadian artists.

Jax Naugler (he/him) (@j4x50.n on Instagram) is a 21 year old multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary, Alberta. He works mostly as a visual artist creating multi-media paintings and as a tattoo artist, planning to pursue both of these while he continues his travels. He is very excited to be collaborating with such talented creators on this explorative project!
Brooke Burron (she/her) (@burron_br on Instagram) is a 21 year old Calgary based actor currently studying drama at the University of Calgary. She enjoys exploring different forms of art including music, writing, and photography, so she is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many incredible artists on this project!
Karmen Naugler (she/her) (@karmennaugler on Instagram) is a 19 year old BCR student at the University of Calgary. She likes to get creative in her free time, ranging from painting and poetry to photography. She was interested in this project as it is an incredible opportunity to create art with like minded individuals.
Sofia Trevino (she/her) (@softrevino_ on Instagram) is a 21 year old writer originally from Canada but has spent the past two years living in New Zealand. She finds writing as a way to express emotion and tell stories, although she may not personally experience what she portrays, she likes the challenge of channeling and expressing the emotions and thoughts of someone who has gone through what she writes. She hopes that people can connect with her writing and hopes to do more in the future!
